Marcel Morin is a professional photographer, globetrotter and storyteller through his images.
Since early 2000, he has had the chance to travel around the world: he traveled in Eastern Europe, South Africa, Southeast Asia, India and China where he lived for more than ten years.
What characterizes the photographer, Marcel Morin, is his humanism, his great sincerity, his ability to capture the moment - Carpe diem is his primary motivation. His conscience of the world in which one lives everywhere on the planet governs him. A priori, Marcel Morin is guided by his attention to the other. At random in the streets, he meets here and there a look, a smile, a desire to speak, to get in touch. The photographer is tamed more than he tames. This is how is created the link, that he enters into communion with the other.
It was in China that he discovered street photography. Adept street portraits, he is immediately softened by marginal people. Being multilingual is an asset, he recognizes it from the outset. But the way to make contact with the eyes, his respectful approach and patient guide him at all times. It is first through the heart that the photo is taken and given. Without condescension.
During his travels around the world, Marcel Morin is a privileged witness of everyday life. His vivacity, his presence of mind make him constantly on the lookout: his desire is to bring back from the other side of the world images that reflect everyday life, to be in solidarity with every human being, regardless of his condition.
Although naturally attracted by his contemporaries, Marcel Morin also lingers on the past through ancient stones . He takes a very personal look at buildings (roofs, cornices, doors, reflective materials, etc.) and immortalises them in a unique way, he creates a new image and lets it tell a new story .
As in dreams, clouds are subject to interpretation. They are ephemeral, almost ghosts. It is because they are enigmatic , impalpable that they captivate so much Marcel Morin. Through the image captured, he tries to translate their movement, imagine what they evoke, he wants them to tell a story.
Grouped under this term, unclassifiable photos, offered pell-mell : Here and there, of vivid touches of color, monochromes, uncluttered landscapes, congested cities, suspended highways, skyscrapers that plunge into the water, etc. Every photo speaks, just lend the ear and the eye ...
As a photographer, Marcel Morin makes use of all the tools available to make the slices of life he presents vibrant. He tries to translate his feelings through stylized photos. His wish: that we stop, that we let the emotion rise, that we seize the message that can transmit a photo, that we consent to an awakening of consciousness.
After selling his business in 2001, Marcel Morin focuses on international trade and photography. Since 2013, he devotes himself entirely to photography. Globetrotter for a few decades, the photographer proposes with the project " Are we that different?" That sheds new light on people who stand out both for their attitude, their pride, their dignity. Marcel Morin is from La Patrie, in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, Canada.
