The little fish seller

Vasco de Gama, Goa, India, 2019

This young girl is an example of daily life in some parts of the world, where many children work to help support their families. Selling fish on the side of the road is a common activity in coastal cities in India.

The young girl from Vasco de Gama must rise early each day to retrieve her fishing nets from the port, a task that requires strength and endurance. The fact that she must deal with the mud on the shore shows how difficult the working conditions can be for these young children. Unfortunately, the young girl does not really have a choice, as she must contribute to the survival of her family. For her, this means giving up school and focusing on fishing and selling fish. This story is a poignant example of the reality of life for many children on our beautiful earth.
